Daddy Daughter Dance – Frisco Texas February 6, 2010

It’s that time of year again. The 2010 Daddy Daughter Dance in Frisco Texas.

*** For details about the event, please scroll down ***

Strap on your dance shoes, put on a nice suit, and get ready to boogie oogie oogie. Well, don’t ‘boogie’ or you may embarrass your daughter, but you get the point.  This year’s theme is “Alice in Wonderland”.

If your daughter is between the age of 4 and 12, this is a MUST ATTEND dance. My daughter and I have been attending this dance since moving to Frisco. Our first official dance was February 2005. We have really created some great memories, some of which you can read and/or see here… Daddy Daughter Dance in Frisco Texas

This year will be very memorable because my daughter is now 12. Its her last year within this age group to attend. I wasn’t sure until recently if she would even want to attend for sure. She is getting to the age that Dad is not as cool as he once was. I’m lucky though, because I AM just as cool. 🙂  Okay, maybe I just like to think so. In either case, Sidney is excited to go and so am I.

Because there are different age groups, the dances start as early as 2:00 pm and the last dance group starts at 8:00 pm. Here are a few pictures from previous years. They grow up so fast…

Ask any parent and they will tell you “It’s GREAT to be a parent!”  I completely agree and would not trade my kids for anything in the world, but sometimes you need some time for yourself.

Family Frisco YMCA has organized a ‘Parents Night Out’ for THIS SATURDAY (8/15/09)! But you need to act quickly as they only have room for 50 kids.

You may register online or in person. I would suggest to go to their online site in order to ensure you get a spot. Here is the link to the online registration for easy access.

NBA Nations coming to Dallas West End 7/10 – 7/12

That’s right… if you are a fan of basketball and live in the Dallas area, NBA Nations is coming to the ‘Taste of Dallas’ located in the West End July 10-12.

What is the NBA Nation?  It’s a mobile Basketball Playground. An 18 wheel, 53 foot showtruck. Inside is the VIP Skydeck where fans watch some basketball in the courts below, have some snacks and beverages, and watch some NBA Highlights. There will be a live DJ, food, contests, and prizes.

Whats the price? Nothing… nada… zilch.

When and Where? This weekend, starting Friday July 10th from 11:00 am – 9:00 pm, continuing on Saturday July 11th from 11:00 am – 9:00 pm, and wrapping things up on Sunday July 12th from 12:00 pm – 8:00 pm.

Each day there will be special guests like Sam Perkins (7/10 @ 7 pm), LaMarcus Aldridge (7/11 @ 1 pm), Spud Webb (7/11 @ 2pm), and Dallas’s own… Rolando Blackman and Jason Kidd (7/12 @ 2 pm).

Besides meeting current players and legends, watching highlights, there will be two full basketball courts.  On these courts they will hold a few contests for prizes. Show off your skills – whether you are a dribbler, shooter, or even a dunker.  Can’t dunk on the 10 foot rim? No problem… they have an 8, 9, and 10 foot rim. Contests for dunking will only be held on the 10 foot rim, but you can still show off your skills on one of the lower baskets.

Still not sure?  It’s free… bring the kids!  They will certainly have a good time and who knows… maybe you will too.

2009 Frisco Freedom Fest

We are slowly (okay, maybe its quickly) approaching the 4th of July. Boy this year is going by fast. On Saturday, July 4th, is the 8th Annual Frisco Freedom Fest. The 2009 Frisco Freedom Fest will be located on Main Street, across from Pizza Hut Park. Come and enjoy the food and festivities starting at 4 pm. Then take the family across the street to watch FC Dallas vs New York Red Bulls which starts @ 8 pm. Shortly following the game will be the Fireworks Extravaganza which is the biggest firework display in North Texas.

Are you available to volunteer? There is plenty of room for Patriotic Volunteers and a variety of jobs. If interested, volunteers should go online to then click on ‘Volunteers’. There you will see a list of opportunities. Print and fill out the online application. Request one or more of the opportunities that are listed online and the desired shift. This will assist you in working your area of interest. These shifts are assigned on a first come, first served basis.
